Still hot!
Working with greens and yellows because my sister came down to look for stuff for her new home. Her colors? Green and Yellow! I did an homage to her new home.
And...some time ago at one of my favorite thrift stores, I came across some carefully sliced/sawed black walnut shells in a plastic bag for $1.00. I kept them and used one on a shrine. But I thought of using them for printing. So the "designs" on this background are black walnut shell prints. What we find to use creatively!

Before and After
I decided to go a bit darker on my hair color. I was tired of being a blonde. So I went two shades darker to a warm brown blonde which in the picture looks red. (and thin).
I read in someone else's blog about self-portrait Friday, but this is either too late for last Friday or too early for this Friday.
I am sooooo self-conscious about how I look that to post my picture for the world to see is beyond belief. Next I will fly!

Block Mandala
So strictly speaking this is not a mandala, but I am calling it a block mandala. It is Peerless watercolor (the little papers that you cut up and wet to get color) and Sharpie and text from a paperback book called Fifty Ways to Play Solitaire. All the titles of the games seem to have meaning for me, so I am slowly using it up.I haven't used the Peerless before although I have had them in a drawer for about three years. The good thing about not working is I have time to work on art and time to use or throw away or give away products I haven't used in forever.
I am also making a shrine to help me with a particular problem I am having (long story for another time).

Getty Villa
So Tina and I and 92 other people went to the Getty Villa on the Joslyn Center Tour. We paid $15 and got to ride a bus with a bathroom, And someone else fought the traffic. The weather was perfect and we saw some fabulous antiquities We ate in their cafe and had some fabulous food. And then the bus drove us home! What a deal!
There were a few glitches here and there, but all in all great! I will upload some of my favorite pictures later.

Decisions and Paperwork

Dia de Los Muertos Already?
Today I had to make some big decisions about my future. As ominous as that sounds, it's actually good news. I really tried to prioritize my needs and my wants in an adult and responsible manner. And then I went to the 99cents store! I bought little water balloons for Dia de Los Muertos paper mache skulls. I know it's August, but I need to get the balloons ready and the paper mache on the balloons. The painting goes quickly.(She said optimistically). I will start the paper mache-ing tomorrow and continue this week. There is a lot of drying time in between each layer and there are three layers. Did I mention that I am making small ones and will string them like a banner??? Oh yeah! A girl must have a project!

I made it to church with time to spare this morning, but I was up all night worrying i wouldn't wake up in time! I hate that!
I went home and took a long nap! then of course, the laundry, laundry, laundry! Stanley likes this whole nap thing.
